The History of Oakvale

Oakvale Farm & Fauna World opened its doors to the public in November of 1979 under the ownership of Jeffrey and Elaine Sansom. Their son Kent later took over the running of the farm in 1995 with his wife Leanne later joining him in 2003.

Since 1979 the farm has undergone countless changes. More recently it has had a major facelift with the construction of our Reptile Ravine, kiosk, eating area facilities and party room. One thing that remains the same is our commitment to providing an environment for our children to learn about our native wildlife and how to protect it.

During its 32 years of operation over 5 million visitors have been entertained and educated by our wide range of native wildlife and farm animals. We hope to ensure a fun, safe, educational and value for money experience for the whole family whilst keeping things as hands on as possible.

Oakvale farm has also had a long history of assisting the film and television industry with the filming of both TV commercials and documentaries.

At the farm, you will find an endless menagerie of Australian native and domestic farm animals such as ducklings, rabbits, goats, sheep, cattle and horses, koalas, kangaroos, wombats, emus, dingoes and a myriad of birds as small as a quarrion and as large as an ostrich. Plus many, many more.
